Dre Greenlaw Suspended for Unsportsmanlike Conduct

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw has been issued a one-game suspension without pay due to unsportsmanlike conduct during a recent game against the Seattle Seahawks. The incident occurred with 6:30 left in the first half when Greenlaw delivered a late hit on Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold and subsequently head-butted Seattle linebacker Ernest Jones IV, who was without his helmet at the time. This behavior breached NFL Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, which condemns actions that go against the principles of sportsmanship.

Niners coach Kyle Shanahan announced his disappointment with the suspension and mentioned that Greenlaw’s appeal would occur shortly. “Hopefully the appeal process can go better tomorrow, and we can get it rescinded,” Shanahan said, highlighting the significance of the appeal process to the team. Rookie Jaden Dugger has stepped in for Greenlaw, impressively handling the weakside linebacker duties with nine tackles and a sack during his first game in this new role.
